Ice Cream Sandwich MIA? Only on 0.6% of Android Devices - broadwateruterming

A wave of devices spouting Google's latest Android flavor, Ice rink Clobber Sandwich, may be expected at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, but ICS is presently acrobatic on just 0.6 percent of all Android devices worldwide. The latest Android distribution numbers are supported Google's count of devices that have accessed the Humanoid Grocery store concluded a 14-day period of time that ended Tuesday.

Information technology's ambiguous how many a devices 0.6 percent accounts for, merely any are estimating there could be 1.2 trillion ICS devices or more in the wild. Google in November aforesaid it had activated 200 million devices.

ICS may not be a big slay even compared to other Mechanical man versions, but that should change in the coming months. Most device owners expecting an ICS upgrade are still waiting for the new Android OS to roll out as the absolute majority of upgrades are slated for the first three to six months of 2012. Froyo is in second place with 30.4 percent, while Google's tab-specific OS Honeycomb, released in February 2011, claims 3.3 percent of all Android devices.

With Icecream Sandwich Google hopes to reduce the amount of version fragmentation presently plaguing the mobile Operating system. The new Mechanical man flavor will wreak on both tablets and smartphones, and the search giant recently introduced inexperienced mandatory device support for Holo, the timeworn ICS visual theme. Google hopes the new compatibility standard will make it easier for one-third-party apps that indorse ICS to look the cookie-cutter across a wider mixture of Android devices.
